Crap. I forgot to blog yesterday. Guess I just forgot I hadn’t done it already. I keep having these really weird dreams, about superheros, snow, and high school. I hate waking up after a long nights rest and feeling exhausted. And I really hate the new Saturday Morning Cartoons. What happened to quality life lessons? We all can learn from Rocco’s Modern Life, Doug, Ah Real Monsters and Hey Arnold! but I cannot learn a thing from this transformers shit because I am too distracted by how badly it is animated and how obnoxious it is in general. I guess the only modern cartoon that comes close is Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. Thank god for YouTube when you get a craving like this. I would have been completely obsessed say I were well Tavi. (theStyleRookie). What 12 year old has time for something so meaningless as fashion? This debate was recently brought up at work. I really do feel bad for a 12 year old girl with a perception of life like this girl. I guess I just had more important things to do at that age like pretend to be Harriet the Spy. (I guess I was 8 but what’s the difference at 22?)

Anyway! Yesterday I woke up and went to Ny Elegant Fabrics. I spent about 2 hours collecting and labeling fabric swatches for both of my collections and I still feel like I need more, especially from a different store. They are sooo overpriced but I guess you pay for convenience. Jessica and I settle on a lace from the store but in a color we found a different one. We just thought I would go back and buy it because of course I would have to go back for more swatches. Well the cheapest fabric at NY is probably 10/yd. So let’s just say this poly lace is 14.00 at its lowest. I got it for 5/yd! Booya. So even if it doesn’t work it is no big deal. I just wish I had these resources all the time. Even if it is overwhelming and I hate going into 20 stores dealing with hounds chasing me down because there is too much competition on one frickin street for anyone to do any decent business…it is nice to have every fabric at your finger tips.
So after doing that, I traced all my croquis onto watercolor paper via glass door out to the backyard. Then I redrew their faces and painted in their skin tones. I then created my color story for one of the collections based on the fabrics and a photo of Death Valley so I could begin painting the designs. I finished three and messed up one before realizing I finished a whole bag of chips to myself and it was 11. I got a lot done, but on any other project I would be finished by now. When the ratio was 8 fabrics to 5 or 6 croquis and is now 33 to 21 for just one of the collection ideas…it can be time consuming. Better get back to it.
